Nevada, Kansas Join States Offering 365-Day Angling and Hunting Licenses

Nevada and Kansas have joined 12 other states in offering licenses to anglers and hunters that expire 365 days after they are purchased, and include an auto-renewal option that legislators believe will bridge the loss in revenue that may follow the change. Supporters of 12-month licenses, including NMMA, believe it provides anglers with greater value and encourages more people to get outdoors and fish.

The majority of states continue to sell licenses that expire at the end of the year, regardless of when they were purchased, leaving many late-season anglers with little time to use their license before it expires.  Two bills in the California legislature would create a 12-month license, but their future is uncertain at this time.
