Team Finley/Wood Wins IFA Redfish Tour Event at Georgetown, South Carolina

IFA Redfish Tour event pays out more than $47,000

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – Glenn Finley and Dodd Wood, both of Belton, South Carolina, weighed a two-fish limit that totaled 9.51 pounds to win the final regular-season event for the Atlantic Division of the IFA Redfish Tour presented by Cabela's on September 23 at Georgetown, South Carolina. The team won a fully rigged RB190 Ranger boat prize package powered by a 90 horsepower, four-stroke Mercury outboard valued at $26,800 for first place.

The winning anglers faced tough conditions with high tides staining the water and making sight-fishing difficult. The duo ran 30-40 miles, fishing Berkley Gulp! on a popping cork.

"It was a hard-fought victory," said Finley. "We fished hard every day in practice. Nothing came easy for us, but the Lord blessed us again."

Finley and Wood took advantage of the numerous IFA contingency programs and added $2,512 in Anglers Advantage cash and another $2,000 in Ranger Cup money for a total of $31,312 in winnings.

J.D. Nobles, of St. Johns, Florida, and Kyle Craven, of Mcclenny, Florida, weighed a combined total of 9.48 pounds to win the $2,747 second-place prize. The anglers added $1,252 in Anglers Advantage cash.

Third-place finishers Danny Payne, of Pawley's Island, South Carolina, and Jake Haynes, of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, brought 9.19 pounds of redfish to the scales to win $1,498.

The anglers enjoyed clear skies, light winds and a falling tide during competition.

"Conditions proved to work in our favor with the wind and sun at our backs," said Payne. "We ran about 15 minutes to fish the flats just off a creek."

The anglers sight-fished Berkley Gulp! shrimp and swimming mullets over oyster mounds for their limit.

Fourth-place finishers Andre DeMoux and Daniel Hill caught the heaviest redfish of the tournament. Their 5.18-pound redfish was caught on Berkley Gulp! and won the $500 Berkley Gulp! Big Redfish Award plus a $250 credit for the Berkley website.

The next stop for the IFA Redfish Tour is September 30 Titusville, Florida. Teams that compete in at least two regular-season events will be qualified for the 2017 IFA Redfish Tour Championship.
