Oklahoma Angler George Washington, (no kidding) Lands 60-pound Flathead on East Cache Creek, Wins Academy Sports Shopping Spree

George Washington, 35, caught the 60-pound flathead catfish when he was out Sunday night at East Cache Creek in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Washington said the 60-pound fish, measuring 4 feet, 1 inch, was the biggest he's ever caught. He tried to weigh it using three different scales, all of which maxed out at 50 pounds, and the fish's size crushed them.

Academy Sports in Lawton heard about his gear loss and offered to give him a shopping spree in their store to rebuild his arsenal. Lawton has been invited to the store to load up on up to $250 worth of gear Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. The event welcomes the public and media-- contact Tyler Sumrall, Public Relations Specialist, (346) 280-2826 (cell), tyler.sumrall@academy.com.
