DENVER — Game & Fish magazine, America’s only national outdoor magazine with a focus on local hunting and fishing, announces its April 2019 issue is now available on newsstands.
The popular three-part Tackle Test continues in this issue. Game & Fish editors and experts test 23 of the latest spinning rods and spinning reels and report the results. They name an Editor’s Choice and a Great Buy.
This is the second installment of the series that started in March with baitcaster reviews and will conclude in May with Game & Fish’s pick of the best rod and reel combinations for technique-specific fishing. Also, readers can check out gafmag.com for details about the gear and watch video tips of what the editors learned while on the water.
“We assessed these rods and reels in real-world conditions by catching and fighting big redfish and feisty bass,” Game & Fish Editor-in-Chief and a part of the testing crew, John Geiger said. “A few rods and reels easily stood out as best. We also evaluated them based on what they deliver for their price tag. Our results might surprise you.”
Dr. Todd Kuhn of Game & Fish, Todd Ceisner of BassFan.com, and three experienced fishing guides rounded out the testing team.
Also in the issue, fishermen and women looking to hook crappie will discover shallow-water tips and get advice about small baits for crappie with attitude. It’s trout time, and Game & Fish breaks down the where and when to make the most of the spring’s best bites. In a special section dedicated toMajor League Fishing, Game & Fish editors interview Jacob Wheeler, find out how MLF pros fish pressured waters and hear about their best bait hacks.
Hunters also will find value in the April issue with in-depth tactics to kill turkeys after morning fly-down “rush hour” and other stories about spring opportunities.
