Outboard Sales Up for 6th Consecutive Year, Says NMMA Report

The first section of NMMA’s 2017 U.S. Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract, Outboard Engine Sales Trends report, is now available in the Statistics section of NMMA.org

The Outboard Engine Sales Trends report examines outboard engine retail sales, which increased for the sixth consecutive year in 2017, up six percent from the previous year. Detailed information on total dollar sales, units sold, average prices, and top 20 states can be found in the complete report, with historical trending data. 

NMMA members receive unlimited complimentary access to the digital versions of each section of the Statistical Abstract as they become available, in addition to the full compilation report, which will be released in July. This report is the most comprehensive collection of industry data and a trusted source for recreational boating statistics. 

NMMA is constantly improving the timeliness of its data and by releasing the Abstract in sections, as key statistics are available, timelier and valuable insights are provided to members across all industry segments. 

The release schedule for the 2017 Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract is:

  • April: Pre-owned Boat Market; International Exports/Imports
  • May: Powerboat Sales Trends; Cruiser, Watersport, and Offshore Fishing Boat Sales Trends
  • June: Total Industry Sales by Category and State
  • July: Total Boat Registrations; Full Report
