Backcountry Camping Reopen at Everglades N.P.
| November 14, 2017
HOMESTEAD, Fla - Backcountry camping is returning to Everglades National Park. Campers can now obtain permits 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at Flamingo. Campers must self-register in person, obtaining permits at the fish cleaning station adjacent to the boat ramps of the Flamingo Marina, and no more than a day in advance of the start of a trip.

The Gulf Coast area is not issuing permits at this time. Any open sites north of, and including Broad River, are first come, first served. As a result of damage from Hurricane Irma, drive-in camping at Flamingo, and most other services in Flamingo, such as the Marina Store, fuel service, boat rentals, boat tours, and canoe/kayak rentals remain closed until further notice.
