WDFW Corrects Rules for Quinault
Action: Corrects fishing regulations for the Quinault River. The regulations are:
* Immediately through Aug. 31, 2009: Daily limit six jacks only. Minimum size 12 inches in length. * Sept. 1 through Oct. 31, 2009: Daily limit six salmon, up to two adults may be retained and may be any combination of chinook and coho. Minimum size 12 inches in length. Release chum and sockeye. Effective dates: Immediately through Oct. 31, 2009. Species affected: Chinook and coho. Location: From mouth at the upper end of Quinault Lake upstream to the National Park boundary. Reasons for action: The original regulation was intended to provide harvest opportunity for adult fall chinook and coho. The July 1 date in 2009-2010 Fishing In Washington Sportfishing Rules Pamphlet for retention of adult chinook and coho was inadvertently included in the regulation. During July and August adult spring chinook are present in the system and require protection in order to meet conservation objectives.
